Medicare Information and Eligibility

Meadowood is a skilled nursing facility certified to participate in the federal Medicare program. Our facility is governed by the laws and regulations set forth by the Federal and State related agencies at all times. Skilled nursing care patients who are eligible and qualify may have a portion of their stay covered by Medicare. This determination is made prior to admission to the facility and is part of the pre-admission assessment completed on all residents.

In order to qualify for Medicare Part A coverage during a Health Pavilion stay, a resident must have 1) a medically necessary hospital stay of at least three consecutive nights and 2) a skilled nursing need and/or orders to receive some form of rehabilitative therapy. Medicare does not cover long term care or custodial services provided in the Health Pavilion. Residents who do not meet Medicare eligibility may elect to pay privately. Meadowood does not participate in the Medicaid program.

If you meet the criteria for Medicare Part A eligibility, Medicare Part A and your supplemental insurance will cover the cost of your stay in the Health Pavilion. Medicare Part A pays 100% of the costs for the first 20 days of a resident's stay at Meadowood. Beginning on day 21 and for the remainder of the maximum 100-day coverage period, costs are typically covered collectively by Medicare and a secondary or supplemental insurance policy. Residents and/or families are advised to check with the resident's supplemental insurance agent to confirm coverage under skilled care/nursing home circumstances. Meadowood does bill Medicare but does not file any secondary insurance claims. Co-insurance claims must be handled individually by the resident and/or family member. Meadowood's Accounting Director is available to answer questions pertaining to secondary insurance claims or to lend residents/families assistance with submitting claims appropriately. For Medicare A residents who do not have a supplemental insurance policy, there will be private pay costs after day 20 in the Health Pavilion. Please contact the Admissions Coordinator or the Director of Nursing for more information on Medicare coverage.
