About Meadowood Retirement Community

Bloomington, Indiana, has been ranked one of America’s top ten most desirable locations for retirement by Modern Maturity, Money Magazine and others.

Our Mission Statement

  • To enhance the quality of life by promoting emotional, mental, physical and spiritual growth
  • To provide uncompromising personalized service
  • To respect human dignity
  • To enrich our lives and the lives of all who cross our paths, by caring, by affirming their unique worth, by giving what we have to give and accepting what they have to give us.

The living options at Meadowood include 95 garden homes, 88 mid-rise apartments, a community building, and a 66-bed health pavilion. Meadowood has broadened its offerings by authorizing structural changes to the units. From the simplest enclosure of a porch to the design and construction of new freestanding homes, Meadowood accommodates not only the needs of our individual residents, but their imaginations as well.

Monthly rentals are affordable and include fine dining, elegant parties, housekeeping, lawn/grounds services and door-to-door transportation for shopping, doctor visits and sponsored special events. Meadowood residents enjoy the natural beauty of Bloomington, the cultural and academic advantages of Indiana University, and a multitude of amenities year-round. We offer in-house continuing education classes, exercise classes, a woodworking shop, various clubs and organizations and over 100 musical events annually. Transportation is provided to local community activities such as IU home football and basketball games, opera and theatre performances, and special events in Indianapolis and Brown County.

Meadowood continues to develop as a leader in providing community-based retirement living as we grow and offer more options to our residents. As an industry leader, Meadowood enjoys the privilege of attracting distinguished retirees from around the country including physicians, artists, lawyers, former university presidents, directors, diplomats, athletes, administrators, alumni, faculty, trustees, and staff.

Quoting Meadowood Resident Jim Walden:

The biggest thing that makes Meadowood stand apart is the personnel here — up and down the line. It doesn’t matter which one. They’re warm, they’re friendly, they’re helpful — amazing people.
