Meadowood averages over eight concerts, lectures, parties, trips, meetings, classes and events every single day.

At Meadowood we encourage residents to be as active as possible. After all, they are here to retire from work, not life. Meadowood's activities director not only coordinates our acitvities that occur within our facility, but also on the Indiana University campus, in downtown Bloomington, and around the state, such as day trips. We have even been known to spend a week in Greece.

Our primary goal is to create an environment where people will continue to be involved in life. Fostering a sense of community and support among the resident and staff is an equally important goal. With an independent population of over 230, there is, of course, a wide array of preferences in the area of leisure. Whatever your style – formal or casual, indoors or outdoors, educational or just plain entertaining – it's all included in Meadowood's Activities!

There are many ways to keep apprised of Meadowood's busy activities schedule:

  • Once a month a calendar of events is published by Meadowood's activities department to give residents, family members, employees, prospects and community members a quick glance into the coming months activities. A glance at the monthly calendar will give you a brief account of each days events, including event times and location.

  • The Meadowood Messenger is a monthly newsletter published to give a more detailed look at the months events. In addition to to events, the messenger offers a front page article highlighting topical issues that concern Meadowood, its residents or staff.

Quoting Meadowood Resident Maxine Cooper:

We looked at a number of other facilities. We liked what we saw in Bloomington and at Meadowood, especially the cultural events and programs that they offer. In our opinion Meadowood was superior.

Quoting Meadowood Resident Patricia Bayer:

Indiana University offers classes at Meadowood. That’s the most wonderful thing going. They hold quite a variety of classes here in the Community Building.
